Default Skeeterguy-"A Hard Act to Follow" 7-16-10

After Skeeterguy had such a good night on Thursday, I hit the water late Friday evening. Got on the water about 8:45 pm and got set up for a nightstalk. My decision to go at the last moment resulted in a solo trip, but I wanted to give it a try...The first hour of dark resulted in seven quality fish and a few misses. I thought that it would not be long till I got 20 nice fish in the boat and could call it a night. Wrong!!! The bite all but quit for me after 10:00pm. I only got a few more crappies and a few white perch. Called it quits at 12:20 only to realize that my cranking battery had gone ka-plunk! Took about 25-30 minutes to get one of my trolling motor batteries hooked up and then cranked up to go home. What my trip lacked in quantity it made up for it with quality. Every fish I got was 9"+ with two around 12", so I still got a nice mess of fillets for the fryer. I guess Skeeterguy and his cousin knocked them out the night before and there were only a few leftovers left for me....Oh well, we can't all get 70 a night...Still had a good time, except for the battery dying. I hope to get back out and troll some more this week. I think that I am about to put some trolling patterns together for the summer. Time will tell.

Thanks for the invitation, but most likely this Saturday I will be trout fishing or smallmouth fishing in a cool mountain stream. I can hardly stand the lakes during the day with this heat and the ski boat traffic....Good luck and let us know how you do.

Sometimes a night fishing by yourself is just what is needed.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
