Does a crappie change colors after they spawn? Some of the crappie I caught over the weekend were almost white in color and some had some coloring of a bass. But all were crappie

I would say the light colored fish either just came from deep water or they have been in very dark, stained water for a while. Maybe someone else can give a better answer.

The male crappie turns black during the spawn and keeps that color for a while after the spawn (seen them with some black on them until August at Truman). The female crappie should remain the same color throughout the year. But bwillaub is right, water color and water depth makes a big difference to the color of a crappie.
