    Default Long Line Trolling

I made a mistake and originally posted this in the panfish forum.

What kind/size line do you use for long line trolling?

I use mostly Power Pro 10/2 unless I get some indication the crappie are getting line shy in more clear water. If that is the case I just tie some mono on to my Power Pro to make a long mono leader.

I personally like the fluorocarbon lines in 4-8# test. The fluoro is a great advantage in clear water and sinks instead of floating like other lines, this helps you get your jig down deeper with less weight.

GCD I have been thinking of trying some fluorocarbon, but just have not yet, but I just got a new reel and will put Power Pro on one spool and maybe some fluorocarbon on the other.

After saving about $100 on my sunglasses I thought maybe I can save on that high end reel too and you know what, I did save about $75 on it too. Wife has had enough of my shopping spree, LOL!

for cranks 10lb or 12lb trileen xt, jigs 6lb trileen, I used to use braid, but I like the stretch you get with mono, I think I get better hook up rates, I think I tore out hooks at higher speeds with the braid. have a great day, God bless.

Currently using 4lb Mr Crappie camo. Used 6lb for years decided to go to 4 to get deeper. Have never had any problems at all with Mr Crappie camo line and its tough to.
