I've seen those testers at Walmart or one of the auto supply stores around here - not sure which. Handy little tool to have around.

You can get from Bass Pro . Just look in the wiring section and you'll see it . If you have the Marine Catalog it's on pg. 171 at the left hand top of the pg . It's called EZ Troubleshooter .

I've had one for about 2 years now and it works well. I think I picked up mine at Bass Pro for about $5-$6. I lost a fuse on the truck and didn't have any trailer lights and it helped to know that the trouble was in the trailer and not the truck after replaceing the fuse.

Just something I ran across, but I didn't know BPS stocked it.

Trailor wiring is not what you could call high quality wiring. It is very weather (uv) sensitive. In other words, it rots. I replace my harness every 4-5 years. Easy to do, not too expensive, and saves a lot of headaches. Most people ignore connecting the white ( chasis ground) wire at the trailor. Very important to install this connection and provide good bonding for this wire to ensure a proper ground. Grounding thru the hitch is not good. This can cause intermittent operation, power/current surges and thus blow fuses and bulbs. My opinion here..

These are great for probably 90% of the problems. I just want everyone know that the LED’s on this tester takes less power to run than a regular light bulb. It is possible to have a bad connection that will light the LED but won’t work a light bulb. Now with that said, I do think that this tester is well worth the few bucks that it cost. I use them myself; I just keep it in mind that on a rare occasion it may lie.
