Usually on a jighead under a bobber. Used to use Northland Whistler jigs that were "dressed" with bucktail but haven't been able to find any since they are now MADE IN CHINA.

I never thought of useing them upside down, bet they struggle a lot that way.

I either put it on a jig-head right side up, or I use a weight about 8 inches above a #1 hook.
When in doubt, set the hook.

I use a red #6 hook with a #7 pinch weight about 4 inches from the hook, and depending on their mood I hook them thru the mouth and out between the eyes. If I am fishing over a tree pile and still fishing I will hook them behind the dorsal fin, if I need more action I will tail hook them to get more action out of them. If they are really finicky I will move away from them and use a slip bobber and cast to the spot. I will drop a bouy to the back side of the structure and cast past it and let it drop to the disired depth and then slowly bring it over the structure. I try to keep moving around a tree or brush pile. It seems if I stop and fish it hard in one spot the fish will quit biting, but as long as I keep moving they will keep biting. EB

I think you missed a couple of the main choices: 1) through the lips 2) Behind the dorsal fin. I usually go through the lips, but my buddy introduced me to behind the dorsal fin and sometimes it seems to work better.

I have never heard of hooking them upside down. I might have to give that one a try. I tried weightless once and it seemed like it took forever to get the minner down where the fish were.

Depends on how sadistic I feel at the moment.

Usually thru the eyes or thru the mouth and out the back of the minners head. 4/0 hook is ok with me.

i use weightless because it looks more natural and it catches older, smarter fish.

Used to tell me ex that I felt bad for the guppies that I fed to my lil pike in my tank. They were born to be eaten, but at least they didn't have hooks in their eyes

    .

We don't use minnows, they are illegal to use as bait here.
