    Default 5 cast rule

How many times have you been fishing and told yourself "1 more cast", and then just kept fishing? If your like me, many many times.

One day I got tired of telling myself and my buddies who were itchin to go home when I wanted to fish more "One more cast", so I invented the Five Cast Rule.

    __________________________________________________ ___________

    Five Cast Rule

Its time to go(dinners waiting, girlfriend/wife/family expected you home 40 minutes ago, buddy want to leave, etc etc...)

    You have 5 casts.

Weed casts or stick casts don't count.

You get a hit = one extra cast.

Catch a fish = restart the Five Cast Rule.

Catch another fish and all bets are off.

On cast 5 - including exceptions - you leave(after one more cast of course)

No guarantees here. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, but it works a lot better than one more cast.
Good things come to those who bait.

He he he - I guess that's why I fish by myself a lot. Had a few ex-fishing
buddies who would start horsing to go, an hour or so after we had driven
45 minutes to the lake. I did say "Ex"

man, as a kid the worst thing my dad could have told me was "Ok, it's time to go". I swear I would get instantly mad when he said that. I always thight we never stayed long enough. I never wanted to go home. This rule sounds great. I need to use it.

Sounds like a great rule, but I would have to put out a minnow and float for the last cast just so I didn't have to leave so quick. Can't leave till the bobber goes down!!

And here I thought I was the only one to use that rule!:D It is an awesome rule but, as you know, rules are only guidelines which we can change as we see fit.
    Thanks for the chuckle.

Thats why us fishermen of like mind and habits should get together to fish because then we'd never need the 5 cast rule. Just fish till we drop then take a nap in the van and go again. The smell might get bad but who cares out there in the open wind. Right??

If the smell gets that bad you could always jump in the lake. A bar of soap and you are good to go. It would not be the first time I have ever done that!
