I would start off with a jig or minnow fished under a float. Set the hook around 2' under the float. You may need to set the hook deeper if you are getting no bites but if the lake is full of crappie and perch you will catch fish. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Yep, that's what he means. Most bait stores carry live minnows, if they are legal in your state. Check the Washington regs if you're not sure.

If you cannot get minnows try using feather jigs or tubes under a float.

    Get yourself some of these:

... and you'll catch some of these!

Wal-Mart has the jigs, just cast them out and reel them back in!

... btw, I pretty sure that live minnows are a no-no in Washington State.

You don't need minnows. Try fishing a 1/16 oz RoadRunner. Cast it out or along the bank and reel it back very slowly. You can't fish them too slow. The RoadRunner will fall a foot a second, so try fishing it at different depths until you find what depth the fish are at. Good luck.

If your near Seattle, lake Washington has lots of Crappie.
Those Perch get pretty good sized too.
    Lake Sammammish too.
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D
