I use a troll plate, it works fine, easy to set the speed you want, I have seen them on 90hp and 40 hp, one thing after I am done trolling I run the motor out on the water and get it good and flushed out, in case it carbs up a bit, never had a problem with fouled plugs in 2 years

I bought the troll-a-matic and have not installed it yet. My 75hp 4 stroke runs 2.6mph at slowest, so for pulling cranks, I need to put it on.

There are other way's to slow your boat such as dragging a 5 gal. bucket or two behind you or a drift sock. Trolling plates are good but they restrict your exhaust somewhat.

Default Got mine on a 125 HP

and until I forgot to raise the sucker up and goosed it, It was running great. 3.2 MPH without it and down as low as 1.2 with it. Beats the heck out of the buckets I was running. 5, 5 gallon buckets in and out the back is a royal pain

Sat, I've been trying to find out why you added the kicker motor if your trolling plate worked. Well?? I have bought the troll-a-matic and a stabalizer. The question is, which one should I mount?? If I mount the stabalizer, I could use drift socks.

Why couldn't you mount the stabilizer and then mount the troll-a-matic to the stabilizer. Thats what I am thinking about doing on my 115 Four stroke. A little back yard engineering....I don't see why it would not work.
