Default Be Careful Folks Scary Stuff Going On With....

..... innocent looking plastic soda bottle with liquid in them are being left laying around yards and in mail boxes that will explode if touched moved or jostled.

Seems like some low life creeps are trying to hurt folks. I sure hope this is really a myth but check these sites out about this info.

Sure hope this is not spreading and giving some nut case ideas and that this info just might keep folks from harm.

    LBM:

Thanks for the warning. I often pick up these type of bottles at
places where I fish. Now...I will be more careful....and start asking
folks to pick up their own trash when they leave.

this is an old trick, been around for years but this is the first time iv heard of somebody doing it with bad intentions. I work with a woman whose son attended a college. Him and some buddies were doing this in tan empty dorm parking lot.....just having fun making a boom, not hurtin anything and they got aressted for posssessing WMD, went to court and cannot attend a public college in this state now.

I use to make these things for fun as a kid, (and sometimes as an adult). I did not read the article but any experience I had with them would lead me to believe this would be hard to accomplish for several reasons. If the person is making them and capping them, they themselves have to move them to stick them in the mail box, which to me would make them explode anyway. Also, the bottle begins to swell before it explodes, I would think anyone with common sense would drop it pretty quick. I use to use this trick to scare off stray dogs and such, but never to harm a human.

Looks alot like dry ice bombs we used to make in my younger days too.

Different concept altogether but same ending.
