    Default Lake of Egypt, IL

For any of you guys looking for a new lake to try this winter, this is a good one. After learning a little about the lake yesterday I went back today. Finished with only 10 fish, but 8 of those were 12 inches, 2 were 13.5, and 1 was 15. All were very healthy, thick black crappie.. Here's the crazy part, due to the power plant the water was 58 degrees. i caught my fish on minnows 18" under a bobber in 3 feet of water.

Good to hear you got to experience winter fishing at Egypt. I assume you were fishing fairly close to the power plant with water that warm. You can almost tell if your day is going to be good or not by checking the giant smoke stacks at the power plant. If they are smokin' they are generating hot water. A good tip for anyone who comes here for the first time. Also the darker the sky the better the fishing in the winter time if they are running hot water up on that end.
