I'm looking to buy a Lowrance HDS-5. Any of you fellas have suggestions on places to buy from? Obviously looking for the best deal.

I bought mine at Everhart;'s here in Clinton. He matched Bass pro and saved me a heck of a drive. I will see what he will take for the one on the shelf. It has the Lake Insight mapping like the one I have.

Do you guys prefer the lake insight mapping, or the external chips for different regions of the US?

I have the lake insight on the 8 and a chip on the 7 both are great, I got mine from cabelas, and bass pro.

What's the difference between the insight mapping and the Navionics chip?

I sure like the being built into the system. To many horror stories of people having them stolen out of there units. When zoomed out it looks like goggle earth satilite image. The HDS is the easiest unit to operate that I have had. I will get you a price tommorow.

BBG electronics were cheaper then the big stores. Join Bass Boat Central and you will get a good discount. I have both Insight and a Platinum chip, neither have Truman mapped very well but both have very good detail.
