    Default Marion walleye

After getting kind of a late start, I finally got on the water at Marion about 8am. I was going to start drifting but the wind was almost too light so I went to trolling, thinking I would maybe drift later. I was trolling 2 poles with a 3 way rig on each. I used a gold hot and tot on one and a blue chrome on the other. On the other end of the 3 way rig I used some type of a swim bait. About 9:30 I got my first keeper. I spent most of the morning fishing from 12 to 18 feet. Water temp is about 74 to 76 and the water is as clean as I have ever seen it at Marion. I ended up catching 13 walleye and 5 were over 18 inches for my limit. Did see several boats catching fish. About 11 the wind went down to nothing and the fishing really slowed down. I talked to 2 guys at the boat ramp and they both had caught a limit, so I think the bite was on for everyone. I know this is a crappie site but hope it is OK to post about Walleye from time to time.
