I'd like something with a thermostat. Any recommendations?

Have burned out about every one I ever had, but the very best especially if your cooking a lot is Propane burner and large cast iron skillet, but just do this out side. Inside a fry daddy is pretty good, but don't expect it to last for many years. Also don't use an extension chord.

I would by a better one if I could and I do need one now since my last fry daddy has bit the dust.

I agree with Skip....you just cannot beat propane with a cast iron pot plus a good thermometer and peanut oil.....bring it up to 350 deg and look out.....like he said....outside only.....I do not like to cook fish inside as it seems the oil settles all over the kitchen.....I converted my outside grill with a side burner and tried the side burner to cook fish.....went back to propane after one use as it just was not as hot as propane.....

I have a cast iron dutch oven and a propane burner. If you need to cook for a crowd, you cant beat the cajun fryer.

    Here's the one I have.

Thermostat and timer, holds 1 gal. of oil and will cook a bunch of crappie up in short order.

It's a Sunbeam I think and I got it at Wally World for around $50 I think. I've had it for 4 yrs. and it still works like new.
