Killer video. Does anybody have a better close up of how he is tying that knot for the slip bobber? Tying knots for a slip float has been a serious pain of a learning curve for me.

I have a simple diagram of a dental floss stop knot I use on this thread. It is very easy to tie.

Yeah, that is the one I have been trying to do. I have been using fishing line not floss though. Maybe I'll try the floss next time. I just always seem to have problems.

Any idea what he is tying in the video? Maybe just an overhand knot? I like the idea of not having to tie something else onto the line, but rather using the line itself.

Its easy to tye a slip knot. Okay first cut yourself a piece of line about 10inches. I use fly line backing. In yellow, Green, or what ever. Now make a loop in the line, now you have one end in your left hand and the other end in your right. Now you should have a loop in the center between each end. Good if have that loop. Now lay the center loop holdimg on to main line. Take the right end and go over main line through the loop. Repeat 7 times through the loop. Now grab both ends and pull away from each other like tyeing a knot. Before you tighten knot wet it down with saliva. Now cut off excess line from your knot and slide knot to what ever depth. After you do this slip knot you'll say wow thats easy. Good luck. This is the best I can do guys.

I always just use pieces of rubber bands and tie a knot around the line with that. Rubber bands come off the local paper, so it's cheap; I tie 2 over hand knots and cinch each as I tie them, so it's easy; and they will stop the bobber but are very easy to slide up and down so it works. It's also really quick.

Nice video. I enjoyed watching. I like how he retrieved his bobber, never saw that done before. It looked to me like he doubled his main line at the depth he wanted and tied an overhand knot to form a loop for his bobber stop. Thanks shipahoy..

That is what it looked like to me also. Thanks for confirming that. I will try it next time I get out.
