The gap on a #4 sickle is the same size as the gap on a #2 standard. So, you can use a smaller hook with the same size gap. I have found that the sickle breaks easier than a standard.
I've never heard of sickle hooks until I joined Crappie.com! I recently purchased some jigs (sickle hooks) and will not be able to use them until Mother nature cooperates :p
Anyways, what are (if any) pros and cons of sickle & straight?
Thanks,
V

I've heard people mentioning them breaking, but have not experienced that myself yet. I had a member here "Jameslin" make me some 1/24 oz sickles and used them for the first time this year. They are some awesome hooks. Very sharp! so much so, you have to be careful handling them or you'll end up bleeding from every finger. lol! Also, never lost one fish on them while pulling jigs two days. Put them to a real good test, caught lots of fish on them so far.
You'll like them.
