    Default Smithville

Danny and I are planning on going to Smithville in the morning weather permitting. Have not been there all year, the lake is up and muddy I'm sure. Any advice on where to go, etc... Alex, Cook anybody been up there in the last day or two ? Thanks, Dexter.

Well, last week I did pretty good fishing off the bank for the spawning boys. The rain came in and it's gotten a little harder for me. I'm sure the nests are still there, but about 2-3' further from the banks after the rain. I tried to fish shallow again this past week and didn't catch a thing but white bass. I did notice that I was getting a lot of sonar hits in about 10' of water. The fish were hanging anywhere from 4-8' down. It looks like the fish moved off into a little deeper water. If the rain holds off I'll try fishing shallow again. I've attached a map of where I've been fishing lately.

Went tonight and it was tough. 4 keepers and about 25 shorts. like Alex said the better ones were about 5 to 6 foot deep. Had one trying minnows but jigs did better. Water still cool, main lake 66 coves 69. Good luck!

Fished the old Mecca road and the steep bluffs next to it yesterday evening. Very little action. Got a couple of bites on minnows drifted just above the bottom but landed nothing.

My daughter and I went last night and we started catching big females on the banks around 6:00. It only lasted about 45 min. She whipped me again. She had 8 keepers and I had 6. She also caught the bigest a 12 incher. We fished up Camp Branch.
