Mass air flow sensor.
Help a brother out would ya? My 06 fx4 with the 5.4 has a problem.
*Engine lite on difficult to notice any performance problem. Take to dealer
*Dealer says bad secondary damper in intake. Reqiures intake removel for repair. (ouch)
*$800.00 paid, lite trips again within 11 mi. Return to dealer code says same thing. Dealer agrees to repair at no charge.
*Picked up yesterday and when you engage passing gear at 30 mph (full throttle stomp) The engine pops, breaks up, and takes a while to clear. It did not do this before repair.
*Parts list includes intake gaskets, retaining clip, and throttle control clip. *Engine has 68000 mi.
Any thoughts?? cause I'm going a bit crazy. Thanks in advance
Mass air flow sensor.
I Would Say Same Thing Either Bad Or Just Needs Cleaned Or Intake Hose Is Not Hooked Up Right Causing A Vaccuum Leak.
Take it back to your dealer and make him get it right.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Switch to Premium gas or have it tuned up with the gas you are using. I have had 2 trucks do this and the dealer said it was running lean because I was using premium and got a tank of 87 octane. EB

sell it and buy a real truck. :D

My son was jacked around by 3 dealers on a simular problem. They went thru the whole gambit. TPS,MAP sensor and so on even had to replace the mufflers and catalytic converters 2 times and still nothing. I suggested it was in the timing and they laughed and said the ole man was way behind in time because they don't set the timing anymore on vehichles. It was the crankshaft dampener WITH a timing sensor on it that had wollered out the key way and was out of timing. They replaced that with a used one a mechanic at the Ford dealer had, 25 bucks compared to 250 so the boy went for it. Thirty days later same problems, they refused to check the dampener again because they knew it was okay!!! They failed to install it properly. Clean everything, new key, thread lock, torque it, get the engine up to temperature then RE-TORQUE it because you have two different types of metal and if you don't re tourque it will do the same dam thing. I am no longer welcome in any of our local ford dealers so I bought all Chevy's before the bail out. They do listen to me at the Chevy dealers being a former Ford Service Manager years ago. Good luck with your problem you are having with the engine. Our problem was no power for acceleration, hardly able to take off but ease up to 55 and then it would take off??? Again Good luck. Even when I was still working on them in the olden days 1985 even Detroit would get stumped now and then till someone in the field stumbled on fixing something. Ferdi aka Fred
