Cool Possible new world record crappie

I talked to a friend of mine that is a guide on Ky. Lake 2 days. He told me that 1 of our neighbors at the campground old him that there had been a 7# plus crappie caught in the backwater below Wickliff, Ky. I didn't post anything cause you here that stuff all the time.

My son sent me an email yesterday and said that Brother Romain (A pastor at a local church) showed him a picture of the fish and said it was indeed true. My son also said that 1 of his guys at work is kin to the guy that caught it. It may have been caught on a trot line though. The guy said that Bass Pro Shop had offered $100,000 for the fish. I can't confirm this though.

I hope that they kept the fish alive. I'll let you know if I hear anything more.

    Default Big Slab !!!!

Let us know if you get any more info about it. That does seem very large for a crappie.

i doubt it, i think it has to be caught on a rod and reel to qualify
When in doubt, set the hook.

I believe there is a rod and reel record and a record for other methods so it would qualify for a record.I'd love to see a picture of it.It could eat the crappie I catch.

had the story been more one person to one person and not through a half dozen and had the catch been a few oz over the record it would have been easier to believe but nearly a 2 lb jump?

like perfer said, i find that hard to believe.

i had an uncle once that knew a man that was told by his nephew that a man killed a record deer. let me look around and see if i can find that picture.
