    Question Boat Anchors?

What all kind of boat anchors do you guys use? I know there's got to be some pretty cool ideas for something home made that will get you by until you get the store bought ones you want?

I've got a neighbor who makes ares. he melts down old lead , then puts it in a coffee can to cool. the result is a 20-25lb anchor about 6" tall that will hold about anywhere!!

I use old teeth from a backhoe dip bucket. The bigger the bucket the heavier the teeth. They won't roll and they already have a hole for the rope. May take a while to find one. I have had mine for 25 years. You would be suprised what these grading companies throw away.

I used to use old coffee cans filled with cement, but found that occasionally they didn't hold as well as I'd like...switched to 15-lb mushroom anchors...I have 3 in the boat, in case I want to anchor over a specific spot, like my favorite brushpile...2 out to the sides, one out front....even the "boat-bangers" speeding by don't rock me outta my spot anymore! (lol)....

    Default anchor

Old homes use to have steel window weights. I welded 3 of them together.
