This should be an interesting read. I think one of the main things these days is to decide which one gives you the longest warranty. If one gives me a 3 year warranty verses 5 or longer on another brand, I would probably go with the one with the longer warranty even if I liked the other one better. I have heard nothing but good things from those Honda motors though.

I voted Honda for one reason and one reason only. They hold resale value like no other.

Yamaha get's my vote. I have had a Yamaha 25hp 4-stroke for almost 10 years now. It has Never gave me even a hint of trouble. It gets used twice a week until the lake ices over. When I get a bigger motor it will be a Yamaha.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

I have an '05 Mercury (Yamaha) four stroke and have not had 1 seconds worth of trouble from it. I voted Yamaha since they made the powerhead and are the closest dealer to me. I would buy a Yamaha if I were to buy a motor in the future so I would not have to drive a long way to get any parts I may need.

Yamaha for me --- just to validate my most recent purchase. Besides, Wannabe, said so.

Seriously, I did some pretty good due diligence on four strokes, and it was real close with Yamaha edgin Honda, but only by a little. The deciding factor was proximity of dealership, IF-- I ever had trouble with it.

Heck, I even put a new 50 four stroker Yammie on an older (02 tracker), with many saying it was like wearin' brown shoes with a tux. I likes me some Yamaha.
