Default Tough day on Logan Martin 5/4/10

The catchin' wasn't so great on Logan today, but it was a nice day to be out!

Got on the water at the crack of noon today and the wind was brisk! Thought I'd try some new differnt spots and they didn't pay off.... but you never know unless you try!

The lake is a little above full pool and the water temp is back up to 78-80*F. The lake is also full of debris, trash, and litter! Leaves, sticks, grass clippings, plastic bottles, foam cups, logs, dock framing lumber.. you name it and it's floating in Logan right now.

Some of the logs are big and won't do a hull or lower unit if someone isn't paying attention (this one was about 10' long)

Needless to say, this made longlining very difficult... plus the fish are deep, 12-18' which made things even worse! I'm sure tightlining/dropshotting minnows would have been a much better presentation today, but I didn't bring my tightlining tackle or minnows so I was stuck with longlining.

I did catch 3 crappie though.

Pulled this dark male out of/through a brush pile in 12' of water.

Believe it or not I pulled these 2 slabs in at 22' of water trolling 1/16 jogs at 1.2 mph

The chunky Spots were biting better than the Crappie.

Took me 4 or 5 minutes to get this one in on the noodle rod.

    Another one.

Tried a bunch of different colors, but acid rain was what they wanted.

I did catch a Channel cat on black and chartreuse though.
