Default Bad hooks on Road Runners

I purchased a package of Road Runner heads at BP last week to fish on the Bend with this past week and at least half of them had bad hooks. Some had no point at all and some of the points were turned streight up, when you would bend them in place it would break. Where is quality controle, I emailt them to see what would say if any thing.

To me the brittle hooks on Roadrunners has always been an annoyance. I use braided line when working around brush and prefer that the hooks would straighten out when pulling loose. They have always broken for me so I don't think the brittle hooks you refer to are a current flaw in their production QC process but hooks without point would definitly be a QC flaw.

Wounder if they think that by using the bittle hooks they could sell more Roadrunners. I know that I would like to use them in more heavy cover but won't tie them on unless I'll be working more open water which is not where I spend most of my time looking for crappie.

Time spent fishing doesnt count against your age. :D So fish as much as you can.

I use Road Runners for 80% of my fishing. They are a universal lure (LB,SB,bluegill, bream, crappie, trout) and I have never had any trouble with them. Then again I won't stand on the boat and jerk and pull until it comes loose. You will spook a lot less fish just by trolling over and pulling parallel to the caught limb. Sorry to hear you got a batch with bad points, but in general I have always had good luck with them.

    Grizz

I'll attempt to expalain what I meant.

On numerous occasions on the water I have looked at my watch, thinking and feeling like I have only been fishing only 45 to 60 minutes, and upon looking at my watch see that I have been fishing for 3 to 4 hrs. Then I think wow how did that much time get by and I still haven't got to try all the tricks & techniques and work the areas I wanted to work. Time just seems to fly until I become tired and its time to go home. It doesn't seem to matter whether it is a good day fishing or a bad day fishing this situation seems to occur.

Now ones time line of life is just so long until the end of your life. In the above situation I have just moved down the time line 3 to 4 hrs towards the end and it only felt like I had moved down the line 45 minutes. That means I have moved 4 hrs closer to the end and not the 45 minutes that it felt like. Therefore I'm closer to the end since 4hrs have passed and not 45 minutes.

There were some times while working that just the opposite phenomena would occur. I definitly prefer the fishing situation now.

I guess if I spent less time on my random mental musings, like above, while fishing and more on the task of finding and catching I would catch more fish. But I don't think I want it any different than it is. :D

They were probably made either late on Friday afternoon on early Monday morning.
    Birddog,

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

I have not had this kind of trouble with any Road Runners and I have been using them for a very long time.

I would call them and see what they had to say.

Exclamation Never had that problem, Mikeg ...

with any Roadrunners, or Roadrunner "heads". I'd definitely get in touch with Customer Service !! At the very least, they should send you a replacement package.

I've been using RR's since the 70's ... never found ANY in the shape you've described. .......... luck2ya .....cp
