Don't know but since seeing some of the big shad spit up by the crappie in my livewell I've been using some 3" to 4" sassyshad type minnow baits with a 1/2 oz jig.

My thoughts were that it might target the larger fish realizing that I probably wouldn't catch the numbers as I would with smaller baits but hopefully they would be some nice slabs. Results yet to be determined and I have caught some suprisingly small ones on the larger baits.

Probably just like fishdoc says " not all the time, but sometimes...kinda like every thing else in fishin!!!"

Or the question is should one be fishing somewhere else or deeper or shallower if one wants the larger fish. I've tended to feel I should probably be moving if all I am catching is smaller fish.

Questions questions questions fishing can sure be a invigorating, challenging and too many times a humilitiating endeavor when one compares the size of a fish brain to a human brain.

I do not know for sure, but on Pickwick I use a 3in curly tail grub. Sometimes in the winter we go to a 4in grub. We do not have to measure many fish. Big bait - big fish - I guess it works.

Not at all. Sometimes when the crappie are being finicky, the smallest bait will entice them just enough to bite. When they're not biting well, go smaller and slower.
