What is your go to bait for crappie? What colors do you use?

My favorite when the going gets tough is a 1/32 Black and chartruse 1.5" tube. Over the last year, I have been going to the Bass Assassin in Albino Shad color more often. I don't know if it is the action, color, versatility, or just pure luck but I have been doing real well with this little bait. I have caught them during the pre-spawn, spawn, post spawn, and now this winter on those Assassin's. This past weekend I was fishing deep water at Green River and spider rigged these baits as well as..mmm....mmm....minnows.(don't use them often). :>) and I caught a bunch on the Assassin's as well as the minnows. The fish on the Assassin's were larger on the average than the minnows though.

But my ALL TIME favorite is the one they really want that day!! :>) Sometimes that is as hard to figure out as where they may be hiding from me! :>)

    Wink Locally ...

my "go to" bait is a 1.5" BPS Sparkle Squirt Tube in Electric Blue/Chartreuse ... on a 1/32-1/16oz P&S Custom Tackle weedless jighead (unpainted ball head type)
It's usually the first thing I throw, that last thing I throw, and sometimes the only thing I throw :D (if it's working !!)

I do use the Panfish Assassins, too ... but, mostly at Watts Bar for shooting docks. Many of the tournaments I fished there, were won with it. Albino Shad is one of the favorites of the Crappie, down there. .... cp
