Default 11 species in one day

    1. White Crappie
    2. Black Crappie
    3. Smallmouth
    4. Largemouth
    5. Stripe
    6. Rockfish
    7. Hybrid
    8. Bluegill
    9. Sunfish
    10. Hickory Shad
    11. American Drum

I caught all these fish in one day on one lure between Meltin Hill Res. and Fort Louden. All in about 3.5 hrs using St. Croix 7ft medium light premier rod with a #2 shimano stradic, 6lb Pline clear, berkley 3 inch power grub, Christmas Tree color. Not more than 2 of each species. I just thought I'd throw that out there and see if any of you have ever beat that or had similar experiences. I had other days when I had as many as 9 species when I was there, but that 11 species day was a banner. None of them were very large. The hickory was over 18 inches. I hear thats not too bad for them, but I don't know how big they get.
Good things come to those who bait.

I was told the local name for a skipjack was hickory shad - If im wrong let me know. What I caught was a skipjack. I just checked and the world record skipjack comes from Watts Bar. They fight like devils. I'm looking forward to catching more.

That's pretty cool Griz, It's like they say you never know what you might catch on the next cast.

I'd say that's pretty incredible, Grizz. Saltwater might offer up 11 (or more) in a day but I've been on the salt alot and cannot recall anything I've done that compares to that number

Wink On Watts Bar Reservoir ...

I've caught, in one days fishing (on jigs and/or minnows) ...

    white crappie
black crappie (& Blacknose Black Crappie)
    bluegill (and various other sunfish)
    largemouth bass
    smallmouth bass
    ky spotted bass
    freshwater drum
    yellow perch
    channel catfish
    yellow bass
    warmouth

I've also caught Stripers, Hybrid Stripers, White Bass, Flathead Catfish, and even caught a Rainbow Trout, once from that lake.

I've also caught the large "Shad" (whatever species they are ) that inhabit the lake. They'll hit jigs & crankbaits, and they'll even eat your minnows !! I don't know what their real name is ..... we've always called them, and heard them called "Tennessee Tarpon" :D ........ cp
