Weht fishing to San Joaquin River at State Highway 165 caught 17 bluegills and 1 green sunfish. I was using redworms. Most of them are in the 5 inch range with a few in the 6- 8 inch range. There are always penty of 'gills to catch since most anglers fishing the river are going for catfish or stripers. When they catch bluegills they throw them back.

From my observations when I was fishing and when I was gutting the fish, I believe that the bluegill spawn will be soon. I caught the fish in depths of around five feet or less. They are holding in sandy shallow areas. The male fish are brightly colored while the females are duller.
