    Default Shallow Water

Hope this don't sound like a stupid question, i hear and read all the time about crappie going to shallow water to spawn.

So what constitutes shallow water, to me shallow is 2-3 ft deep. So if you are fishing in 10ft of water i would say 2-3 ft is shallow but if you are in 20-25 ft 10-12 ft might be considered shallow so what do ya'll say.

crappie spawn in shallow water, 1-5 feet deep in my neck of the woods. But that is 1-5 feet deep in 1-5 feet of water.
Its often confusing to hear people say "the fish are shallow" when they are fishing in 15'+ of water. I try to say "fish are suspended" at "X" amount of water rather than say they are shallow.

I agree, i have been confused by this in the past as well, basicly boils down to how the person is trying to relate the info to you.
