Default Trolling Motor and Depth finder/GPS recs?

Just got a 2009 Triton 2070sc with a 115hp 2stroke Mercury. Now that the boat is bought I'm looking for a good, quality trolling motor. I'm not sure what I need really at all. I will be using the boat at the LOZ for crappie and bass fishing, and then on the missouri river fishing for cats. What would you guys recommend?

I'm not looking to drop an arm and a leg on the electronics but I've also heard that your fishing is only going to be as good as your electronics are so with that I want to get a unit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. What would you guys recommend?

    I appreciate the help!

Electronics, See the Low and Bird working side beside. Cabelas or Bps or a dealer in your area. They will have the (hopefully) knowledgeable people that can show you what each unit will do. Then see which screen display per price of unit that you like best with each company.. Both are great units. Everyone loves the units that THEY use, but that might not be the unit for you. I love Lows but the next person swears by birds. You look and you decide, that's too much money to later say, boy I wish I would have. Just get the largest screen that you can afford. I will tell you to stay clear of a 5" screen, going into multiple screens everything is just too small in a 5" area.

TM. Thats a tough call also, weather foot control or remote/foot control, you just have to decide which one will work the best for you. Get at least a 24V if not a 36V depending on the water you will be using it on the most. Take into consideration if there is current, unprotected waters(waves or wind) and stay above an 80 pounds of thrust. You can always turn them down, but only so high. Batteries should be at least a 27 group or better yet a 31 group, 31s cost more but you will never run out of batteries.

If this was true, the fish would just surrender and jump in my boat.:o

any good trolling motor, but try to get more pound thrust than you think you will need, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it, and on the depth finder get a good color one,

Do your electronics have the sonar that go through the hull or a transom mount?

Coot, you don't want to try and shoot through the hull on that tin boat of yours. Maybe you mean the built in transducer on the trolling motor. Everyone I've seen, I thought worked fine, if that's what you meant.

To shoot through aluminum, you need an alumaducer, which is high dollar and somewhat of an unknown quantity around here. Best to stick with the transom mounts and trolling motor mounts/built ins.
