    Default Stockton's Tough

Caught 12 keepers about 200 yards into googer creek some on the banks some out about 10 ft of water just about to spawn they were half males half females full of eggs. Threw them back. The fishing is starting to come around. Water temp was 65 degrees.

how do you know half were males and half were females, other than thinking the black color denotes male. I cleaned some cole black crappie, and them were females, just curious.

That big belly full of eggs. I had always heard that the blacks were males and the whites were females but I have seen alot of blacks with eggs in them. I just assumed the skinny ones were the males.

Jdr111 True but on stockton there are black crappie and white crappie, and them big bellies may just be food, I cleaned 15 couple days ago and 14 were males and all had fat bellies, but who cares, as long as you had a good time and caught fish, male or female who cares, luck to you

Good possabilty, I will probably never know for sure, unless I get that biology degree but I am to old for that. Looks like you had a nice mess today. I fished the north end of lake and probably caught 100 fish, half were bluegill the other hal were crappie I did not keep any but there were probably 10-12 keepers in them but no real big fish.
