    Default Table Rock and Turkey

My oldest son (11) got his first turkey yesterday. I can't believe how much adrenaline I had too calling them in. It was only my second time out ever. Had four tom's sneak up behind me and scare the bejeebers out of me when they gobbled. I didn't know they were that loud.

Went to church and then headed down to Long Creek on the south end of table rock. Lot's of boats out there. Males are on the banks but hard to catch keepers. We only had 11 keepers. Prolly had 50 shorts (The future looks bright). I got an Arkansas whoopin' from my buddy. I had only one of the 11 keepers. Fish were 2ft to 11ft on gravel banks.

It would have been a perfect day if I had found a couple pounds of morels.

Sounds like an awesome day with quality family time! Congrats to him on the Turkey and good job calling it in!Looks like the Corps has stopped the flow except for normal generating so the Rock should stabilize for the spawn unless we get a huge amount of rain in the next couple of weeks

Good job on getting him a Turkey and finding some keepers. Going to look around Cape Fair and Flat Creek tomorrow and try out my new Maximm trolling motor I just mounted today. Got rid of the 17 year old Johnson I had since I bought the boat in 93. I think I got my Moneys worth out of it. Any word on the Router I wanted to borrow?

Hunting Turkeys is just about adictive as catching Crappie, it's great getting those birds close enough to hear them drumming. Congrats on the great day!

Greg, that's awesome. There's nothing more exciting than those gobbles getting closer and closer! Congrats to you and your son, that's one neither of you will ever forget!

Outstanding, congrats on the calling, the kill and the fishing. But there is one thing wrong with this post. Where is the pic of your boy with his kill??
