Welcome crappiewannabe. Not able to help on Boone should be someone that can. Post on main board too.
Hello all, I'm new to the forum - and back to crappie fishing after 20 years hiatus... found your forum last week and amazed at the info and generosity of those found here.
Took my Dad to Boone Friday on an exploration/fishing trip. Long story short, searched main points & river channels deep 15-50ft. Saw some fish on finder but no takers. Using minnows & fly minnows tightlined. Water temp 44-46 degrees.
Just wondering if we should have run up to river and try shallower? It's been a long time since we've crappie fished... anyone here fishing Boone? Are there any crappie left in this lake?
Thanks to all for the great reading!:o

Thanks guys, went again today.. water temp up to 48 in places... went up watauga river side fishing from 3-15ft. no crappie today - caught 2 bluegill on roadrunner jig. Saw fish on depthfinder but no crappie bite today.
Maybe soon.
I havn't fished Boone for crappie yet this year. I usally start fishing it in Mid February. I like fishing trees that have fallen into deeper water along the steep banks of Boone. I always start just off the bottom and work up about 5 feet at a time. Here is a link to the TWRA EAST TN FISHING REPORTS.
