    Default 4-11 mtl tough today

hello, cdc members! I'll intro myself first. Names Greg, live in washington mo, on the mo river. Hence the name, south point. I fish with friends & family, mostly at mtl. so today headed for the middle fork, water was murky to muddy. temps 57 to 68, the darker water seemed warmer. only landed 6 keepers today, all over 11", biggest was 13. seemed to be some current today, that good or bad? a friend said they tore 'em yesterday in shell branch, all big fish. maybe someday I'll learn to listen to experience! I'd be glad to know if those fish were hot again today. fairly new to fishing from a boat there, so any advise would be great. I love this website, most people here seem like true sportsmen. Personal values are rare these days, but it shows here.

welcome from hannibal,mo. Good to hear you enjoy mtl. I fished in lick creek and keep 15 fish all over 11''. on minnow about 6' deep.I think we are about 2 weeks away from the real good times if the weather will keep the same way it has been the last two days.Keep posting love to hear all the crappie storys.

Still a bit early for the upper arms of the lake............ might be able to find warmer water, but it's only that warm about 18" down in the column...... I'd agree and say we are still 2 weeks away on Twain.

That being said, Lick, Sandy, Shell, and Indian will be getting beat up these next couple of weeks, but there are fish to be had!

I normally do quite well about midway up the western arms or the lake. I'm told that when they're letting water out, the fishing is better closer to the dam. anything to that? For me, mtl is extremely hot or cold, but the fish seem to average bigger to the west. anyone notice this? WORK SUCKS!!! Ready for the weekend.
