Default Anyone use planer boards for crappie?

I like to long line and pull cranks. I'm considering trying out planer boards. (never have) Anyone here use them and if so, what brand works best for crappie application?

I haven't used them yet, but took my cues from Yikess and got Offshore OR12 (s) with the tattle tail flags. Here's the best price I've found on 'em.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

I just reread the article for the second or third time yesterday but thanks for the link. The new boat is awesome. Second trip out I caught a 16" 2lb 9oz black crappie long lining.

Sorry in advance because this is one of those non-answers answer. About a year and a half ago I saw a post about a "bobber planer" which would be great for small jigs/minnows. I found a web site but it was down and I've always wondered if there is such a thing. Does anyone know?

If you are talking about a planer bobber or floater, yes there is one. My good friend and new found fishing partner gave me one to try out but so far I have yet to try it. The bobber is suppose to change its direction when you twitch it to the opposite side. If this is not what you are talking about Gansett I appoligize

TAPOUT....I have a tx-6 magnum mini planer (church tackle co. 269-934-8528) that I bought from cabelas that works great. In all honesty its easier to control the spread (for me) with different lenght rods. but the little plainer I have works great with bandits or road runners, I just dont used it alot honestly.

    Default Water Bugz

Check out the Water Bugz side planers. They are a fraction smaller than the Offshore boards and cheaper. We use them for striper and crappie in our parts. Click here for information Water Bugz Planer Boards
I will mention that they come two to a pack instead of the Offshores one.
