A Friend Of Mine Has Been Fishing Table Rock, James River And
Kings River Arms. Says He Is Killing Crappie Up Against Bluffs
On Pole Timber 7 To 10 Foot Deep On Jigs And Minnows . He Uses Slip
Bobbers, And The Total Depth He Is Fishing In Is 25 To 35 Foot Deep. He Just Does A Controlled Drift Down The Bluff Casting To The Timber. He Talked To Some Doc Guys Who Were Shocking Fish For
Counts And They Said This Was The Best Year In A Long Time For
Crappie, Regarding Numbers And Size. I Fish Stockton But May Have
To Make A Trip To The Rock.

chef, i've caught some crappie in timber along bluffs up the james. if you put in at cape fair, go up river and there will be a huge bluff on your right along a sharp bend. the outside of this bend produced some good fish for me. also try piney creek, which is down river from cape fair. there is also another creek that is productive just down from cape fair, but i can't remember the name of it. hope this helps.

Is the bluff you are talking about called "Virgin Bluff"?
Is the other creek "Wooly Creek" or the small creek just before Wooly?

yeah, wooly creek is the name of it. on the south side of that creek from the main point on back 100 yards or so i've done o.k. on standing timber. as far as the bluff, i'm not sure the name, but it is massive.

I Think The Virgin Bluff Is Further On Down. We Caught A Lot Of
Fish Off Of The Bluff On The Right Just Past The Boat Dock. There Is A Long Point On The Left After You Leave The Cape Fair Dock. After You Pass The Point , It Has A Marker, Hit The Bluffs On
The Right. We Used Slip Floats And Just Drifted Down The Bluff.
Good Luck
