It's never too late!!!! If you put them in now they will hold fish this year. THe main thing to consider is location, location and location. Even the best bed in a bad location will not hold fish. Good luck!

Just wondering if it is too late to put in crappie beds? If I put them in now, do you think they will be productive for this year, or does it take some time for the fish to find them? Never put them in before, so any help would be nice to have from all you old pros out there. Thanks for the help, and keep your line wet, and your coolers full!!!!
Hook em up, then cook them up! Thats how we like it!!!!

Never wait place structure anytime you can. Sometimes fish find good structure placed well in days.

Having put it a bunch of "structure" both officially and un-officially. The best time to put it in is when you have the time and material. I have put them in during summer and when ice would form on your clothes from spray off the barge. I have caught fish off of piles with green needles also. Assuming you aren't breaking any regulations or laws by what you are using for structure its ALWAYS a good time to put in structure.

I will add one more thing about location. Unless you only fish a certain time of year, put your structure in different places, and different depths. The spot off the gravel spawing bank may be great in April, but not so much in September. Put out lots just make sure you are not violating any rules or regs by doing things like cutting trees from the shoreline to sink. Oh Yeah and provide me with a map of the locations!!!!
Anytime is good, except when there is thin ice! Fish will usually start using them within days if they are at the depths the fish are using at the time. Just be sure to obey all rules and work with your local biologist if you want to help do stuff on public lakes.
