Looking for Us Lakes Dataset or API

I'm currently working on a programming project, one that requires lake information from every state. I have been hard pressed to find this information available, and was wondering if anyone has found a data set of all of the lakes in the US, or an API that I could use to retrieve the lakes information. All I really need are the name of the lake, and the state that it is in, although having the lat/lon of the lake would be a plus.
