    Question Am I wrong??

When i fillet my crappie that I bring home from the lakes I will take the remains to a pond or creek and dump them in to feed the other critters in the water. Nothing floats it all goes to the bottom. I did'nt think of this as littering our waterways since on all big lakes this is done at all cleaning stations. Someone told me that I could get into trouble doing this, which does'nt make sense to me. I would'nt do anything to foul up our waters. Am I wrong in doing this??? I would appreciate your input.

I think dumping in the water feeds lots of critters.

I think one of the reasons is because they outlawed cleaning fish waterside in some areas. People were cleaning fish right on the spot and dumping the carcasses to escape being caught with short fish. This may have something to do with it.

I know the regulations regarding dumping the waste after filleting fish varies from state-to-state...definitely check with your states COs as to what is legal.

As for myself, I prefer to return it to the earth...my wife and I both love gardening and the enriched soil from fish composted earth is awesome!

If I'm at the camp, I feed the turtles. If I'm at home, I bury them in the backyard. Never even crossed my mind that it could be illegal to dump them back in the water, but makes sense about the limit issue.

    Default simple solution

5-gal bucket with a trash bag liner. Put in the freezer. Put left over parts in bucket and let them freeze. Then on trash day put bag at the curb. Replace bag and Everybody happy! (wife, neighbors, state, county, sanitary engineer)

I believe that is against Ga law. A local was charged for that. Better check it out.
