Default Good start to the fishin season

My two buddies and I just got back from a week at Weiss lake in alabama. Despite 5 inches of rain just before we got there, cold, windy and misting rain for the first 4 days we had a great trip. Lake was 2 feet low rising and muddy. We stayed at Bay springs motel and kept my boat at the dock all week. Fishing was very tough and SLOWWW. Disappointed the first day with only 12 keepers. Guys at cleaning station was only filleting 1-5 fish. That made us feel a little better. We learned more about the lake and fishing methods to improve our catch every day. Sun and warmth finally got there for the last 4 days, warming water temps. Ended up with 152 keepers over 11" several between 1lb 5oz- 1lb 11oz. caught most longline trolling curly tails and minnow grubs. Despite bad weather, low water temps and a muddy lake, we had a great time and excited to go back next year. A few pics to get ur blood flowing. FISH ON!! :D

All but 1 crappie was black. They are all tall and thick. I would love to go back next month and shot docks for those slabs. Yes back to reality, work and indiana crappie.

Looks like you had some fun. My fishing partner & I fished Weiss several years back & had a blast, even though a cold front followed us. If you really like the early fishing trips, out of state, you need to try Lake Talquin (Just West Of Tallahasee). Lake Talquin Lodge has the most hospitable people I and my partner have EVER met. Long lining is about all they do there, and they don't hesitate about letting you know where they're biting. They have a web site, where you can check out their photo gallery. I'm from Warren, Ind., if you ever need info on Salamonie, Mississnewa or Huntington Res., just holler.
