Wish u could have had better weather but At least u caught some.
That's a real nice one in the pic
better luck next time!!
The fishing was great. Catching, not so.
Weather 1st day was windy, cloudy, 40's; second day breezy, partly cloudy, 50's. Friday, the day we left - sunny, no wind 70 - figures.
Water temp 39°.
We caught a few, and I had a 14"er, nice fish. Jigs & minnows ($1.25 doz.).
There were a LOT of boats on the lake every day. Wherever you stopped there were 25-30 around you. No one was catching fish, just here & there. Most we saw was a boat that had 20, all 8"-10".
We stayed at Cypress Point Resort, nice enough place with anything you would want.
Reelfoot average depth is 5.5 ft., max. depth is 18 ft. Full of stumps just under the surface. It is not will you run over stumps but how many. I barely got off idle.
The locals said we were a week to two weeks early, and we knew that going in. All in all though we had a good time.
Here's a few pics -
Cypress about 50 yards out from the launch we used -
A stump above water, rare.
Me with 14" crappie. Limit is 30, and 30 of those woulda been nice!
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
Wish u could have had better weather but At least u caught some.

A FISH IN THE PAN IS WORTH TWO IN THE LAKE
Reelfoots a trip............to the mechanic if you aint carefulthats my typical luck when making a trip, always too early and the weather is always best when you're leavingwe gotta keep trying the law of averages says we'll hit it right at some point

We fished it 5 or 6 years ago in March. Same thing we were about two weeks early but still caught some nice fish. We stayed on the upper blue basin at the Sportsman lodge. I sure was glad I was using their boat and not mine. The little 9 hp motor was getting kicked out of the water more than it was in the water. I paid for 3 of us for 3 days and it was less than $1000. Rooms, boat, gas, bait, and ice. Plus meals and beer and fuel to get there. It was a fun 4 days. Would like to get back down there sometime. Next time will be first or second week of April.
Good report Mike, now you know how to plan for next year.

Mike, Thanks for the report. Sorry you didn't fill the freezer but it is a beatiful lake, isn't it? Did you venture down to the other end at all? It's a long run dodging stumps. We launch out of Kirby's Pocket when the gills start hitting.
Good luck the erst of the warm-up.
My worst day of fishin' is still better than my best day at work!
Sounds like a good time. Congrats
Great looking fish, weather sounds about like what it did the week before while dad and I was down there, we did a little better. I second using their boats, not that I have my own, but for the whole package at Blue Bank was $179pp for 3 days, not to bad. I think we might go back in mid-April and give it another try.
