new body of water

well boys i am fishing a completely new body of water in the morning. my wife's grandfather owns a large lake that is nothing but dead timber. even thinker than gram. where would you start. slip float with jigs an minners will prob be my first attempt at em. it is full of gills and redear just wanting to scope it out and see if there is any crappie.

Minners and jigs should tell you pretty quick whats up. Those hungry bluegills and redears prolly won't pass up an active minner.
