    Default Spoonbill snagging around brason?

Going to see a buddy in branson and we want to try our hand in snagging spoonbills. Never been before but would really like to try it. So if you all have any advice on set up and places around branson please help thank you.

There is a lot of snagging activity in the Cape Fair Marina area and all the way up the James River arm. I hear the State record fish came from near Virgin Bluff just upstream from the Cape Fair Marina. I put in at Flat Creek yesterday about 11:00 and ran down to point 15. There were boats everywhere! Most had a fish or two tied to the boat, but didn't see any big ones. Matter of fact it looked like several were actually under the length limit!

Never fished for them, so can't help on the setup other than 8 to 12 oz weights and huge treble hooks fished on very heavy tackle.

If you have never done it go with someone who has, it is a tough fish to get the hang of, big pole, big weights, bigger hooks, strong back and arms, cape fair to galena bridge is the best, flat creek can produce especially after a good rain, james produces the most in the area. most folks use heavy 7 to 10 ft.rods, 3to 5oz weights, and the biggest hook trebble that is they can get and 100 to 200 lb.test line, also new regs. this year, check the book out

there are a few up by the Y bridge at galena that do. If Longs camp is open you can fish there from the bank, but man that is the toughest way in the world to fish for spoonbill. I never fished from the bank for spoonbill. sorry cant be of more help. good luck
