Crappie fisher, I would probably say 90% of my fishing trips as well as hunting is within 40 mi. of home. A couple of times a year might take a trip a little farther. One of my favorite lakes is a 900 acre oxbow that is about 2 hrs away. We go over there two or three times a year for the weekend a try to load up on the big slabs. Just so much going on with the kids, its hard to get away for more than a few hours most of the time. But I'm lucky to have pretty good fishing right here close.

Hey 3Girls, you must be fishing Midway? They do have some hog headed crappie there. I fish it regularly.

In early March I fish a lake that is fairly shallow but, it is a big lake. It is 93 miles from my house one way. Then in early to mid April, I make my way closer to the house, then my drive is 20 to 30 minutes.

I am very fortunate, I live right between two lakes, Cherokee and Douglas. 30 minutes to either one.
I always fish Douglas though simply because I know that lake. Guess I need to find a new best friend to show me the hotspots on Cherokee.
