Remove the two screws in the lower unit and let it drain out. Place the tip of a tube of lower unit grease in the bottom hole of the lower unit, fill until it comes out the top hole. Now put the top screw in while leaving the empty tube of grease in the bottom, tighten down the top screw, remove the tube from the bottom hole and quickly replace the bottom screw

They make a pump that screws on a qt bottle of lower unit grease. You screw it in n the lower screw hole and pump it in until grease starts running out top screw hole. Put top screw in then take out the pump, have bottom screw ready and quick like screw it in. Done and simple. Pumps are plastic and can be found at marinas, auto parts stores, or chinese walmart...........7 or 8 dollars last one I bought

Tilt it up and turn the motor to its side (the side the plug is on). Remove the plug, drain the oil. Replace the filter, fill it back up. Very simple!

dont get confused bigtrucks54, there is no filter. lol

also, if you ever need parts, i have a few of those older motors laying around. accept for my 4 and 6 horses all my motors are pre80s. those old motors are cheap, easy to work on, and reliable.

Do not take out the screw on the nose cone it holds the shift throw in and you will have to pull apart to get it back in.
