Default Todays Crappie Report on Douglas

Crappies were kinda slow today. TVA dropped the water 2 or 3 feet sinse Tuesday and messed them up a little. We came home with 13 keepers.
    We were at Swanns.
Ok gotta go heat the skillet up!

BTW, I am not the best float fisherman, especially when the water is a bit choppy. The crappie were barely turning the floats on their sides. Hard to tell a wave from a hit.
    Any tips?

    Hey Charger:

I use 1/2" Thill Pencil Slip Floats weighted so they go down real easy but the tops still stick out of the water even in pretty heavy chop. They don't lay over when you get a bite unless the fish comes up with the bait enough to take the weight off - which doen't happen very often - but they go under real easy. The light taps are impossible to detect in choppy water but if the float goes under and doesn't come back up we SET THE HOOK!
    FISH ON!

I use the pencil floats too but with no weight but the jig(1/32)
    so the float lays flat.
When the crappie hit the float stands on end and he
has the hook in his mouth. You do not have to wait
    until he takes it under..
