I use 9 ,10, 12, and 13 footers on the bow. No problem. The different lengths allow me to stagger the baits.Originally Posted by Sparkletail
Has anyone out there used the long 9-10 ft Crappie rods to troll with. I am thinking about using a longer rod for the front of the boat to get the bait out a little farther and maybe not tangle so bad with the rids in the back.

I troll with a set of longer rods too...If I added another it would be longer still. If you are interested, take a look at ebay...search for "crappie noodle" and you'll find a bunch...pinnacle, silstar and lexus rods work great for trolling. I'll admit, you may want/need to pay a little more if you really want more sensitivity. For trolling, who needs sensitivity?
Here are you some poles to look at, Sparkletail. I bought 3 ,10 footers , work great for me.

Well I have two new 6' rods. #1 is a GLoomis GL2 light and the other is a Berkley Series One Medium.
I use them for everything. Float-fishin, tight-line'n and trollin!
I do need to get an 8-10 footer though. Its hard casting with a floater fishing 6' deep and with two others in the small boat:D
BTW, got a new Shimano Sedona 2500 spinning reel. Man is that thing smooth, I love it.
Richard does make some good poles. Some of people say use 16 - 20 ft poles to keep the bait away from the boat. Those are just too heavy for me but I have to agree with their reasoning.Originally Posted by fishingpox
