Anyone out there have a problem with their hooks getting caught in their net? I have a nice net, and was wondering if you sprayed truck bed liner or something on them if that would help. I looked at new nets, the rubber seems to heavy to handle one handed, and the coated ones that are extendable are expensive (around $70).

I figure if I can just spray truck bedline on mine it would solve this problem for $10.

The Ego nets are not heavy at all and are 8.5 ft long. They are telescopic. They cost $39.99 and have free shipping.

would the plastic dip work better than the truck bed liner?

In my opinion yes but you will not be able to just apply once and that be it, unless you only use it once or twice a year. I did this for a while. When I got tired of having to re-spray I got an EGO with rubber net. I am alot happier when fishing now.

Been dealing with one of the heavier rubber nets the last few years, but well worth having as to keep your hooks out of the net. However last year I got and Ego from Jay Don (Finnytribe.com) at his store and love how light it is.

Looks like the EGO is the way to go!

Good price and free shipping, you can't beat that!!!

... as far as the bedliner and plastic spray goes, I think it'll make your net hard and not very flexible.

Oh boy, something else I didn't know I needed. Those ego nets sounds like the way to go. Callshy, I recived the Hi-Tek rod holders last week. Thanks for the quick shipping. They are very sturdy and good looking.

I sure hate to think about trolling cranks without the ego net. Those Bandit hooks are sharp and would always get snagged. I'm convinced the ego is the best net for Crappie Fishing.

You can buy the type of replacement nets you want from them for $9.99. You tap out one pin and pull the hoop out, then thread the net on and put the pin back and bingo your done. This is how you put on replacement nets if you need them. So within minutes you can have either the mesh or the rubber basket. Personally I like the mesh, but will try the rubber. For tournament or crankbait specialist I would think the rubber would be imperative, can't go wrong with either. Can not tell you how many pound and a half plus crappie this net has saved me from losing. They are not called papermouths for nothing, we have all experienced that dreaded feeling of seeing a slab crappie pull off and go back in the water. Sick is the better word.

PS Our boats fly the crappie flags proud down here in Middle Georgia.

Hey CCGA, Did you get the Rubber One or the Other,Why and the better one you guys think in EGo, & why
THANKS

I got the rubber one for the fact that last weekend with my regular net I landed a fish and wound up having to cut my net to get the jig out of it. Hopefully this will eliminate that issue

I usually just put the net under the slab so if it falls off the hook....if its a really big slab that I think might break the line I'll net it or lip it...keeps the hook out of the net;)

I loved my Ego................. all the way up to the point my brother said it jumped out of his hand..........and SUNK like a rock. That sucker was gone in 2 seconds.

Didnt even have time to throw butter fingers out the boat to go chase....

It took everything I had not to take a rock to his fat head.

I just purchased an EGO Reach with plastic net. Good looking net but seems like it may be a little flimsy when extended out to 8 feet.

I prefer lifting the buggers over the side until they get up around 2 pounds. Then I try to lip 'em.

I honestly bought the net so that my buddy and my Wife would leave me alone about not having a net in the boat...another nice feature of the EGO is that it will store compactly out of the way when fishing by yourself!
