Can you keep a limit and weigh 7 then keep the rest?
no in the rules most say all fish are to be released

We eat ours. Way too tasty to turn back.

we will catch our 7 fish for the tourny and put them in the livewell and finish out our limit and put it in the other livewell...you just have to release whatever you weight in

They will not let you weigh a dead fish. The major trails make you release the 7 fish you weigh in because when you weigh them in they become their property. They have no control over the rest of the fish in your boat or ice chest unless they have something about it in their rules that I have not seen and I have fished them for the last 10 years. At most of the smaller local tournaments someone will usually be keeping fish for a fish fry and most folks will give them their fish unless they want to keep them for themselves. I usually have enough from practice days and non tournament days that I most times don't keep them at a tournament.
