I have never fished the Big Sandy area or used a crappie rig. What would be the correct test weight line to use for drifting crappie rigs in the Big Sandy area? Thanks.

8lb - 12lb if you are refering to drifting as spider rigging

If you're referring to using a KY rig (weight on bottom, double minnow hooks on leader & attached to main line) .... I'd say 10-20lb test for a main line, and 6-8lb test for the leader lines.

Using the "store bought" rigs - with the metal arms .... I'd opt for 17-20lb test (just to be sure you can straighten out the hooks, before you break off & lose the whole nine yards ;) )

The heavy lb test of the main line is just to insure that you can pull your rig free, should you get hung .... ;)
