Drove around the lake today. We won't be putting a boat in anytime soon. Everything still iced in. Camp Branch will be the one to watch to open first. You can wet a line at the spillway or fish off the bank at Sailboat.

What do you think about this weekend... They are calling for low 40's to even a 50 degree day... maybe open up by Saturday afternoon???

It's not the highs that you need to watch....it's the lows. Those high temps are only that way for a small percentage of the day. The majority of the day (or should I say "night") the temps are going to be sub-freezing.

I drove past Camp Branch on Saturday and it was still locked 'cept for around the docks, as usual. I'm doubting this weekend will be much different. Soon, though! Soon...

Friday's a long way off yet but that looks to be the start of a four- or five-day run of weather where the lows are above 32°.

It won't open up that quick unless we get a good warm rain to help speed up the melting ice .
