Smile Okuma Pro Line Counter Reel ?

Which model of the Okuma line counter reel is the best for longlining? You can buy the model MA-15DX for about $25.00, or several other models for a little more money. Anyone have any comments on best model for money. thanks in advance.

Pretty much the consensus on the MS board is the MA-15DX for crank trolling and I don't see why it wouldn't work for long lining as well. I've heard bad things about the Cabelas Line Counters though and I'd probably stay away from them. Sat has been buying up Diawa LC models from Ebay lately. He says they seem fine and are a bit smaller in profile than the Okumas.

If you're going Okuma, there's only one link you'll need Chodie.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

I love the ones Wannabe mentioned. I thought most of the longliners were just using small spinning reels though.

The link WB posted is the cheapest place ive found for the XD15 reels...24.99 for a line counter is cheap. and they hold up nicely.

I will be ordering 6 this week. At that price they seem hard to beat.

What rod do you use with these reels for trolling cranks?

I use Wally Marshall Tight Line Specials and B n M Pro Trollers but prefer the Wally Marshall.
